iGen4 Arrives at New Litho! Written by Seth Watts on 9/04/2009 9:00:37 AM

New Litho has just run the first sheets of our brand new iGen4 digital press!  This machine represents the latest in printing technology and offers the highest quality output of any press on the market.

We have spent almost 12 months researching which machine would best serve our customers needs, both in terms of quality, reliability and flexibility.  There are a number of good machines out there, including the HP Indigo and the Kodak NexPress, but after extensive testing, we could that the iGen4 delivered on all the areas that our customers have highlighted to us.  We needed the following capabilities, all of which the iGen delivered on:

1. Consistent colour, both within each run and from day to day. We found that almost all of the machines offered good colour reproduction with a given run, but the other solutions had enormous difficult reproducing consistently colour days and weeks later.  With the iGen4, we can print difficult colours like orange consistently month after month.

2. High quality solids.  This is a bit technical, but digital presses struggle to produce really strong solid blocks of colour.  The presses tend to have variations from each side of the paper, especially on really large colour blocks.  Our traditional printers were blown away with the consistency that we are getting with the iGen4.  It really does rival offset.

3. Reliability.  As a manufacturer, this was key to us.  We make commitments to our clients every day and we can only deliver on these commitments if our equipment is reliable and consistent.  The iGen3 was good, but it required 2-3 hours of set up time every day.  With the iGen4, we've reduced this to less than an hour, which means we can delivery more work every day and maintain our reputation for quick and reliable delivery.
