iPads and Real Estate

Main article content

My company, Newlitho, has been heavily involved in iPad applications and I’ve spent a lot of time working with agents on how to integrate iPads into the sales and listing process.  There are three areas where iPads can be used, each with pros and cons:

  1. Listing Presentations – technology has been slow to penetrate the listing presentation and for good reason.  The primary purpose of a good listing presentation is to create a rapport with the client and establish trust.  Sticking a laptop or other electronic device in between you and the vendor is a fast way to kill this process.  I therefore recommend using iPads with caution.  They are great demonstrating certain parts of the advertising schedule, but avoid putting your full presentation on them.
  2. Open for Inspections – many an agent as dreamed of getting buyer data into their CRM straight from the open itself.  There are a number of products that purport to do exactly this, but unfortunately, it’s still not there yet.
  3. Property advertising – this is a big area for grow, with Domain and REA already playing in this space.  Your truly has been busy developing apps as well (see herehere and here).  These work wonders for larger agencies looking for a strong point of difference.
